Just tonight, my windshield fluid pump stays on all of the time. Anyone else had this happen? Just turning the key on, will make the pump come on constantly and doesn't shut off until I turn the key off. Also makes a whinning noise.
My button came out of the lever, the one that you push for the window washing fluid. There are two pairs of contacts inside on the end of the lever. When the button is remove, the contacts touch and the wipers start and the fluid pumps. If the button is still intact it's time to replace the lever. If you can remove the button, make an inspection of the little plastic dividers on the inside of the button. Also make sure you don't lose the two little springs. Use a couple toothpicks to divide the two contacts. Turn the car on and see what happens. You will be able to figure it out. Gary

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I pulled the fuse to stop the pump from running (which also disables the wipers) until I found a solution. My pump was running without the wipers going and my button hadn't poped out so I thought that the problem wasn't with the button as described above. But after fiddling with the button to take it out of the stalk (loosing one of the springs for about 30 minutes ) I bent the clips out that hold the button in the stalk out so they would catch better, reassembled, and all was fixed.
My favorite price for a repair. Cost: $0 and some quality time with the vette.
