Default Keyless entry stopped working…

So I took my car to the dealership to get the front clip touched up, I figured it needed it after 7 years. When I dropped it off the keyless entry was working fine, but now it won’t stay synchronized.
I replaced the battery but that didn’t fix the problem. When I synchronize it, it will work for about 30 min. Then if I go inside and come back out an hour or two later it won’t work anymore. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it? I really don’t want to take it back to the dealership if it is an easy fix so any input would be appreciated.
Thanks guys,
Jonas

I had the same problem, my brand new (I had to buy a second for shipping the car purposes) and leanred that the older one (about 6 years old) was just that...old and burnt out. Recommend you just spend the extra money and get a new one.

I did try new batteries, disconnecting the battery and resetting things, and nothing worked. I learned about this by other people and the dealership I called.

Good luck,

Micah

Same here on my '01. The fob was starting to work intermitantly, changed batteries and it didn't help.
Bought a new fob and it works like brand new!

I have noticed something very odd with my remote(s).

A couple of times a month I have to go see a client that is w/in 2 to 3 miles from a HUGE "antenna" farm (south of Dallas)- called Cedar Hill. It is one of the highest peaks in the DFW area and virtually every broadcaster, TV, FM, AM, microwave,...you name it transmitts their signals. There are dozens of these massive towers everywhere nearby.

When I leave my car and press "LOCK" nothing happens.... so I go back to the car and try again - nothing - neither lock or unlock work and I'm within a hands reach of the car. If I keep pushing the unlock it will start to work, but not the lock button.... have to open the door and use the door module lock then close the door.

Now, I have no idea if there is a correlation here anywhere, but it IS a repetitive unexplanied pattern.... FWIW.

replacing the FOB fixed my problem .
common issue with the 97 - 99 passive FOBS . not too sure about newer FOBS.
Too bad the 97-99 fobs are more expensive than 01-04

I got both a spare fob and spare key at my local Chevy dealer. No probs. As for the intermittent fobs, mine works 90%of the time. Sometimes I have to re-sync it while I stand next to the car (it looks silly just standing there, but I make it look like I'm admiring her). If things really get frustrating, I use the key. (You remember keys?) One click opens the drivers door, two opens the passenger door, and three opens the boot.

It's one of those unanswerable questions like, Why does the drivers' seat sometimes move by itself while I'm driving? Nobody knows.
