Yeah, that's kind of what I am gathering from the responses I have seen. Nothing that will show up on a dyno as a HP improvement, but the SOTP throttle response improves in "crispness".

Thanks.

Mark Shanner told me personally that he has done before and after dyno's on cars and got 5-8 ish on the dyno...

I just did the heads/cam package as a whole so I don't know how much this one mod really did for me HP wise....

Well, I guess I may not be getting one of the Shaner throttle bodies by default. After two emails to him asking for the total price and payment info via PayPal, none of which have been replied to, I guess I need to be looking for a Plan B. I'm not about to chase someone down and grab them by the scruff of the neck to try to get them to take my money..

So who else sells a comparable product that I can look at?

Mark is not real big on email.
You will be much better off by calling him directly.
You won't be disappointed.

TPIS also does the port/polish work on an exchange basis. Fast makes a billet 78 mm TB and so does Callaway. These are pricey alternatives compared to the Shaner and TPIS, though.

I replaced my stock ported TB with the Callaway (CNC bell shaped inlet, brass throttle plate, stock GM tps and actuator/motor) and there is a definite improvement in low-mid range torque, no idle issues, improved driveability was what I was after. It is pricey though.

Hope that helps.

Mark has contacted me via email and I have placed my order with him. Sorry, but I just try to do as much correspondence via email as possible. I like having written records of what has been said in case something goes south later on and I need to refer back to the notes these emails provide me.

I understand Mark is busy, but so am I. Emails are just a much more efficient method for me to work with. Phone calls result in messages left on the answering machine, busy signals, phone tag, and mistakes in what was remembered from the conversation. I send the email, then go on to something else until I receive a reply. Then I go from there as time allows.

But in any event, my S3 is on order, so hopefully when it gets here I can make the time pretty quickly to install it so I can send the original back and recover my core charge......

Thanks.

i have a shaner tb & i like it. it took time to get with mark, but as far as him & his product they are the best.i live about 30 min. from mark & he invited me over to his house.well, for the unusually low price of his tb he actually installed it for me! while he was doing the work i mentioned the fact that i would like to do the throttle body by pass sometime.mark says"well now is the time to do it" we jumped in his camaro [a beast] & proceded to go to the auto parts store.this man did all the work & would not take any extra money for it. now that's service!! i noticed a crisper throttle response & could actually "hear" more air moving thru the engine.mark if you read this thanks again & say hello to sparky for me!!
