Default Seat Options - from another oem model?

Just curious if anyone has ever looked into installing seats from another model car into the C5? Might be a more cost effective solution than the aftermarket if it were possible to mount them. thx!

As an example, my old Honda S2000 had quality sport seats that would surely fit (if they could be mounted correctly). For that matter, even my old Prelude had better seats than the Vette as does my current WRX.

What is wrong with you? The seats in an S2000 BLOW AWAY C5 seats in every way, "rice" or not. The leather is FAR better quality, the seats are substantially more supportive, and I'd bet they are lighter weight on top of it all.

I think you're right about the Honda seats but I also think you'd get flack from most Vette owners. There is a certain sentiment of not adding anything ricer to our cars. There are some aftermarket seats that are probably cheap enough that you wouldn't be able to buy a set of used Honda sets for the same money. Have you priced a set of seats from a wrecked Honda?

I'd say measure out the widths and check the mounting bolt holes, see if its do-able and go for it. Those S2000 seats look amazing.

No idea on the cost of used seats... Figured I'd ask the question about fitment before tracking them down. As for using Japanese parts...Its not like we're debating a giant wing or a VTEC emblem on a vette.

If I had a set of s2000 seats, and they would fit, I would put them in my vette I know they are alot better seats all the way around. I would just lie to my vette buddys where they came from.

For those offended by Japanese brand seats, substitute GTO seats or CTS-V seats into the hypothetical question. Both of those are better than the C5 too...

My original examples were based on my own personal experience with other seats.

That's something I lose a hell of alot of sleep over - getting flack from other corvette owners. Tell you what, when "other corvette owners" start paying for the stuff in my car I'll; start giving a $hit about what they think of my car.

I got the big bench seat from my '82 Crown Vic in there. After some serious fabrication I was able to get it to work. See pics below of the entire process and then the finished product.

j/k I bet that will actually be cool
