My '99 MN6 vert has had early gm recall (2005) and the aftermarket clb installed. Of late, I've gotten several "Pull Key Wait 10 Seconds" and ultimately sometimes "Service Column Lock System" which, of course, shuts off fuel delivery at 1.5 mph. Will the "new" gm recall finally fix this problem? Nerve-wracking to know this monster could rear its ugly head at any time. BTW, I am scheduling the "new" recall asap.

Sound like the CLB may be failing.
The new recall should fix it, unless you want to install another aftermarket bypass and see if that corrects the problem.
I've never heard of a CLB failing. Either they work, or they don't work right off the bat. Where did you get your CLB from?
It has worked fine for over a year. Lately, though, I get the dreaded message far too often. The clb came from MAM. Will check with my mechanic on what he did as far as installation. Thanks for the reply.

Coincidentally, I got the dreaded "Pull key, wait 10 seconds" yesterday, for the first time EVER. I had installed a CLB about 2 weeks with no problems. I also had the 2005 recall procedure (computer flash only) performed.

I will get the "new" recall done on Monday and see what happens. I'll post what I find out from the technicia about what's going on.
Just a thought. Did you have the CLB already installed when the "early GM recall" was done? If so, you might pull the dash panel to see if the tech disconnected the CLB.
I have read on here where one dealership actully pulled the CLB, and tried to charge the person labor for removing it, when they did the recall .
May be worth a look see. I have also heard mention of the CLB's not working on 98/99 model years

Good luck.
Thanks for that input, Roscoe118. That is a distinct possibility. The clb was done after the first recall. Right now I have had trouble with the fuel shutting off but the wheel never does lock. Have an appt Monday to do the new recall.

If the wheel never locks, then either the actuator was plugged in and is now stuck in the unlocked position, or the actuator is disconnected (CLB installed).
Something has to be plugged into the harness going to the BCM to keep the fuel from being shutoff, the actuator or the CLB, so the BCM thinks the actuator is unlocked and will not shut off the fuel.
I would pull the lower panel and see for myself which one is connected to the wiring harness.
Although not common, the CLB is just a relay and I would think could fail just like any other electrical device.
I have read that the new recall will install a GM Harness K kit, which is a harness with a relay to satisfy the BCM, and I know some of the relays in the GM kit have failed. Even though the lockplate will be removed, the relay harness still has to work to keep the fuel from being shut off.

I am confused...if the CLB was installed AFTER the first recall, how could it have been (possibly) disconnected by a dealership technician? It wasn't there when he performed the recall.

Sounds like you're saying that either the actuator or the clb has failed, causing the fuel shut off. Would you recommend installing another clb rather than going for the gm recall?

Sorry for the confusion. The clb was actually done after the early gm recall, so there is more likely a part failure than human error.
