Default Any one run Nitto's?

Does anyone run with Nitto 555R Type II tires? If so, what type of life span did you get? And what do you think of these tires?

I know I forum member who got 6 track days and 2800 miles out of his, most of the miles were hard driving at the track.

I just put on Nittos NT01s on and have only 200 miles on them, I'll let you know how they do.

Default Nitto 555 R 2's here

Wonderful on the street, got about 4-6k out of my rears but replaced (with same)prematurely due to punctures. Really thought highly of them on the track too....until Corvette track days at Spring Mt a month ago. Rears worked great at Laguna Seca then seemed to work great for about 3-4 laps then went away quick at Spring Mt, prob ate 50% of useful life in 6 20 min sessions. Could be the heat cycling but honestly, I think that I was just driving way to bad for any tire to cope (To compare, I rode with an instructor on stock BALD rubber and he was prob 20% faster around the track than me), plus the cars alignment was off from lowering. Going out this weekend, so I will know more. Original Nitto Fronts are still on and are about 50% worn. Clear as mud?

I have them on my Z which is a daily driver. My first set of rears lasted 12k, which included 2 track days and 2 trips to the dragstrip. I don't remember how long my fronts lasted, but it was ~ the same or a bit less, Roebling road eats front outside tires. Do note that I am one who tries not to light them up in 1st gear the street (although I do occasionally spin them in higher gears)

They are wonderful tires and hook like glue in the corners, I am so spoiled on onramps now that I don't think I could ever go back to the F1's...

I use the 555 DR. Get about 10-12K out of them on the street.

I've had a set of Nitto 555RII tires on the car for 7000 miles now. The fronts are still good but it's getting to be time for the rears to be replaced. I'm down to the wear bar on the center 2/3 of the tire. I'm planning to use the 555R tire (DR tire) in the rear. Still having traction problems with my new setup.

cool....I have 3500miles currently...never been to the track, but used in the mtns on runs alot. I 'm getting spoiled with the grip, don't think I'll go back to F1's...I was only getting about 12,000 on the last two sets of F1's. My wear still looks good on the Nitto's, but heard the tires should be replaced around 5K, due to heat cycle.....but it seems some of you got more life out of the tires. ..Thanks for responses.

Got 9k miles out of mine with 5 trips to the drag strip. Just replaced them with a brand new set, rears only. I run Goodyear F1's on the front.
