Default Automatic or 6 Speed

Well, as I said last week, I just bought a 2001 coupe with an automatic, I could not pass this baby up, it only had 12,400 miles and loaded, and bought it for $27,000. At the time I did not know if I wanted a 6 speed or not, I love this baby but sometimes I think a 6 speed would be great. All you experts (This is my first Vette) give me your choices/opinions. Thanks I love this forum.

I love the A4 with the 3:15s and I can't wait until I get my 3:42s. Just use the shifter and shift through the gears. Makes it more fun. BTW, get a tranny cooler now, this was my first mod and it sure keeps my fluid cooler.

I have converted mustangs in the past and the hardest part of converting them was removing the dash and putting in the pedal setup. The cost of the conversion will not be cheap.

Your car looks great! Are those Corsa's with tigershark tailpipes?

Who cares? You already bought the thing so what difference will it make now? I never really understand these "what should I choose?" posts...

A simple search can keep our beautiful C5 General Forum uncluttered and easy to find answers to all the questions we may have.

Yes, but sometimes that "simple" search doesn't work. And other times a newcomer will be so excited to be a part of this beautiful C5 General Forum, that they may not use the "simple" search.

I've been around here for a while (coming up on three years). And in that time one of the most common threads is the auto vs. MN6 discussion. I've seen it more times than I care to remember.

But - let's try to be respectful of the fact that someone new here doesn't know what's been discussed in the past. If the oldtimers are tired of hearing these same questions and discussions - move along, don't bother to post or even read the thread for that matter. I agree that the search function could or should be utilized when possible - but let's just remember we were all "newbies" once ourselves.

Sorry if I came off like I'm scolding - I'm not. This is just my opinion, that's all. Peace - my brothers and sisters!

Oh - BTW....Nice car and great pic DAGORED-C5! Congrats!

Seeing as you asked for opinions, I hope that you bought something that suited your needs and that you did so without needing the approval of a bunch of people that you don't know and probably will never meet. A Corvette is a great car, but you know that already.

You've got the car so enjoy what you have. If you find that it's not to your liking, there's a really simple way to resolve that too. This poor horse gets flogged possibly once a week. It deserves to rest in peace.

I love my 6-speed, but if I lived in an area where there was a lot of traffic, I would have no problems owning an auto. Put in a new set of rear gears and a few other mods, and you'll have a car that will be a blast to drive.

Posting the threads was a good way to demonstrate that this topic had been discussed previously. Nice job!

Here's the thing guys - I'm not the Forum police, and I'm certainly in no position to tell anyone what to do. My point was simply an observation.

I think this is true - once the guys in the snowbelt get a chance to get their cars out of storage, I think everyone's demeanor will improve.
