Well I guess it only loosely relates to the board but here it is anyway
We took a group of Jr.ROTC folks on an orientation ride today, something we do just about every year to give something back & help in recruiting (of course). They were a great bunch of kids and really enjoyed the flight, most of all they enjoyed getting to see another American classic; the F-15 Eagle in flight & up close
After the mission, as I was leaving the Hangar I saw a large group of them hanging around my car as they waited in our parking lot. Several of them were snapping pictures, stealing a quick touch, taking a peak inside, etc. As I approached one asked “is this your car??!” That was all it took… I’m happy to report there’s still hope out there and not all kids are in love with imports! I fielded a bunch of question, probably more questions about the car than the aircraft they just flew in. It was crazy but truly enjoyable for me (and yes, a bit of an ego boost as well). I did what I could to promote this fine auto to the younger generation; hopefully I helped create a couple of Corvette fans in the group.
Sharing my job is always enjoyable; sharing my love for the Corvette is a new high for me and just as rewarding. It felt good that these kids, after seeing one of the highest performing machines around, were still impressed with another American performance machine... the Corvette. Like I said it was a great day today, I smiled the whole way home even though it was traffic clog commute

Wow, getting to ride in an F-15 - times have changed. When I was in JROTC, all we got to ride in was a helicopter. Nice of you to take time to tell them about the car too.
I hope they are now inspired to become pilots. They are very lucky to get a ride and experience the thrill of flying in a military aircarft.

You can rest assured that there will be a future Corvette owner in that group. Thank you for your continued service. I knew all ready that I wanted to fly when I got to go on my introduction ride, I also all ready knew that I wanted to own a Corvette. Great things that just worked hand in hand for me.
Mahalo for a great job with the young men, Mark! Used to live in Mililani Mauka till Feb 05 when I moved to Salem, OR. I am a local boy from the Kaimuki area, but have lived away for 24 years total now. I recall seeing the F-15's at Honolulu Airport all the time. Do you fly out of there/Hickam? Riced imports are of course popular in HI, given the population make-up, but I think lots of them can appreciate a great sportscar like the Corvette. The imports cost less, so that is naturally what they buy, but wait till they find the price of the C5 getting in their reach! Thanks for serving our country! Hey dude, you need to get your car out to some beach like Sandys or Makaha, and share some tropical pics with us! Aloha, Jon
