Default Gas Guard question

Hi

As you probably know already that l live in New Jersey and one of their laws is that l am not able to fill my own tank and have to rely on an illegal alien to do it. I am not talking about Latino's because they respect cars. I'm talking about middle eastern people who have no idea to be gentle with a car.

Anyway Mid America sells something called a gas flap guard which is attached to the filler neck and when the gas door is opened it folds out.
Now it's very cheap in price and very cheaply made.

Any suggestions??

Thanks

Alan

I am from jersey also, i get out anyway, and i usually just fill it up myself anyway. those guys lean up on the car, thier zippers scrape up the sides, just drop the gas cap on the paint, etc... i would never let them touch the vette. Goodluck!!

I'd be afraid that the "people of foreign descent" might not take the time to fold it back up and try to hammer the fuel door shut with the bib 1/2 sticking out.

Same stupid law in Oregon (are NJ & OR the only two?). I have the gas guard on our 2000. I make sure I get there first and fold out the guard and unscrew the gas cap, then I replace the cap, fold the guard in, and close the gas door. Some, but not all, gas jockeys will hand me the nozzle. Others are so afraid they will get in trouble they hassle me about standing next to the car. The truly funny part about all this is Oregon passed a law allowing motorcycle riders to fill their own tank, but auto drivers can't.

I use one and it has saved my **** a couple of times from inadvertent fuel drips getting on my paint

I got mine through WCC for a few bux more because it has the C5 logo on it

Several places like Ecklers or PFYC sell a plain jane one for 6 bux or so...

It folds up nicely and there's no question as to it's use (for an unsuspecting "fueler" )

Wow, you learn something everyday. I did not know we had entire states full of citizens who are incapable of pumping their own gas. Isn't it amazing what some politicians come up with?

I have the flap and live in Jersey and I dont allow the atendants to touch my car!!!!! These guys dont have a clue, most cant speak English and have no idea what there doing. I remember when they used to refer to gas stations as service stations!!!! Isnt it ironic that NJ gas prices are usually the cheapest of all the states and yet self service is ilegal !!!!!!!! When I retired from the NAVY why did I move back?

In Oregon they can't get the law revoked because people don't want to eliminate the low paying jobs
