Just read an article in a Vette mag, they say the disadvantages of run flats are price and road noise, but they are superior in performance and fuel economy.
Mine isn't a DD. The difference between my GY runflats and GY GS D3's was like night and day. They are so quiet and smooth I'll take my chances with the flat. I have everything in the rear compartment in case such a need arises, plus cell phone.
Getting new wheels, curious as to what you replaced with...Runflats or non-runflats...
Peace

I just replaced my GYs with Michelin AS/ZPs on the stock wheels. Very pleased. Much quieter than the GYs and good grip. I do long trips and depend on the car for transportation so RFs were a good choice for me. I've considered getting a nice set of wheels with non-RFs for "fun" stuff and keeping the ZPs for transportation. Or may just go with C6 sized wheels and go with RFs in the C6 size.
If you live in a "wet" climate, deninitely get rid of the runflats -- they have poor grip on wet pavement. I went with Toyos but there are many nonrunflats on the market -- just carry a compressor, tire plug kit and a cell phone.

That pretty well sums it up. Perhaps that's one reason we're getting such good mileage. You think? Anyway, I'm used to the road noise, even in my vert, so that's never bothered me. It's just something I accept as a Corvette owner. Now the $$ to replace them, that's another matter!
Have the same issue....can't decide...Picking up my vette which is under the knife doing a TTi Stage 1 turbo kit...Looking to get around 450 rwhp and rwtq with stock engine....the runflats won't give me any traction but then again drag radials in the back will definitely take a toll on the drive train...not into racing or hard starts...decision time
