Default Can the Chrome Wheels be re-dipped?

The original owner of my car put on aftermarket Y2K chromies on the rear of my car. The only difference between them and the stock is it's size, 10.5 wide, the spokes aren't "rounded" and the quality of the chrome. Which is peeling. It's actually just indsed the wheel so you can't really see it. The visible area isn't what's peeling though.

Is it possible to redip the wheel? And how much does it typically cost?

Thanks all.

Probably easier and same cost just to buy new ones (exchange). That way you have no down time while waiting for them to be rechromed.

As far as I know, when chrome starts to peel. You got to send them back to be re-chromed.

Well, I'd suggest grabbing a pair of OEM rears and having them widened.. won't effect the stock chrome.

If you wish to keep the wheels: When a chrome wheel finish has lifted, bubbled, and, peeled along with any wheel surface damage, scratches and dings: The wheels should be completely repaired, resurfaced, refinished, and, rechromed in order to be done properly, and, thereby, ultimately yield a quality durable plated surface and finish. Do keep in mind that a chromed wheel surface IS NOT invulnerable to curbs, poor handling by a tire service tech, harsh chemicals, and, typical erosion over time.

In general, most chromed wheels have warranties from one to three years (with many proviso's, AND, is strictly dependent upon wheel manufacturer, and/or, specific wheel chromer). The rechroming cost may vary generally from $120 to well over $200 per wheel. The cost is dependent not only upon the type of wheel being serviced (one or three piece wheel, etc.), BUT, also, whether the wheel has to be resealed/rebolted, and/or, must have severe scratches and dents to the rim and lip of the wheels repaired, or, replaced. Good luck to you.

Yes, then use a lathe to cut the wheel in half, then they have a very precise jig that holds it while the tig weld the factory pieces around the ring, and hence, wider wheel.
