Was doing a little cleaning job(very little) on my CE this am and noticed on the console all up the right side the top layer of the material (whatever it's made of) was peeling badly . Took it to my service writer at Vandergriff Chevy in Arlington, Tx (they're open on saturdays) and Scott says the entire console will have to be replaced. Any of youse ever had this happen. I sure as hell hope after the fix I don't get the rattles in the console area.
This is a very common problem w/ our cars. I, too, had this problem. Naturally, after the warranty was up. Cleaned it, sanded it, painted it. Looks as good as new.
I've heard of it before. It's certainly not a big deal to replace the console. I takes about 5 minutes max.
Also, there have been a number of posts about peeling on some interior parts. You may want to do a search or check over in the Car Care Forum for info. Good luck with the new console. You shouldn't have any rattles.
