Default header question

Looking to begin modding my 2002 z06, what brand or brands of headers will directly bolt up to the Ti exhaust with no cutting, keeping the cats and h-pipe intact. Thanks,
scott

You can have long tube headers installed keeping your stock cats and H pipes. You just need to cut the mid pipe to fit the new specs....(If I remember correctly, you cut a little from the front and the back of the pipe)

The point is, to get any real benefits from headers, you need to get longtubes. I.E., LGM, Dynatech, Kooks, Stainless works, and/or others. The only headers that bolt up to your stock system w/o cutting, are "shortie headers". They don't give enough of a performance boost to make it worthwhile. Many longtubes come as complete systems which bolt up to your stock catback (or aftermarket) that include the midpipe/catalytic converter section. These ususally feature high-flow cats/X pipe or completely catless (offroad) X pipe sections.

I put BORLAS on mine.

Bolted right up (make sure you give the seller the right year model).

Recommend you use PERCY'S exhaust manifold gaskets and 12 point (ARP) hardware.

There's a complete TPIS kit (coated longtubes, X-pipe & high flow Random cats) that go all the way back to the factory Ti system. Goes abt $1400-1600 or so.
Much better IMO than trying to get the headers spliced into the factory intermediate section--plus you can always save the factory pieces & return it to stock later.

The system works great & the sound @ WOT is awesome!

Go with the Dynatech System. Shop around and you should be able to get a set for around $1300.00. Definalty long tube headers not shorties.

no no no go with LG long tube's. They are the best fitting on the market and not too bad to install either. www.lgmotorsports.com or look at the vendor list. They offer 2 different sets, LG PRO or LG Street Series. Either one is good, the pro is better obviously, but the street is a little cheaper. Don't waste your money on shorties or anything besides LONGTUBE!

LGs are great you get an Xpipe to replace the H and can choose Cats or no Cats.

7 replies, 7 different answers. Aren't you glad you asked this question? This is a rather contentious issue as everyone has their favorite. From what I've read, Kooks and LGs seem to be the top favorites around here. Good luck on your search.

Indeed Kooks are the best fit and finish and best performance gain. They look absolutely flawless. Full system (Long Tubes, Hi-Flow cats, True X-pipe) around 1500 to your door. Bolts right on and no need to cut or modify the Ti's at the rear. Enjoy making your selection, everybody has a different opinion, just compare and go with what best suites your need.
