Default Rebuild engine parts suggestions.

I bought a 98 a few weeks ago, and I know I will wear the engine out before I know it .
I love to have parts on the shelf, ready to go. I grew up when the only difference in sbc was the cubic inches. Then they had a left and right dipstick(what the heck was that all about?) Then 2 bolt or 4 bolt mains. Then all the l series engines and I was lost. Now I have a this 98 with a ls1, and hear about ls6, and I have no clue on what the difference in parts are, or what will interchange. So to get to the point, I want suggestions on if you were to start buying parts to have your engine rebuilt, what would you put in it. I don't have to worry about emission testing, and I don't worry about gas mileage. I want a radical street machine, if I redo this engine in the future, but I am just a lowly factory worker, making jci batteries for a living, so cost is a medium issue. So no twin turbo's, no blowers, even though I would love the setup. I would like to know what heads, cam, throttle body, intake Etc. you guys would put together as a package. I will be running long tubes. Thanks for all the up coming suggestions and help. Randy

The differences between an LS1 and LS6 are mostly heads and intake- some minor rewoking of pcv system--
I've got a 2000 FRC and just did Dynatech LT headers with cats- this and my Blackwing are really the two biggest bangs for the buck--Others will tell you the next step would be a dyno-tune- Saving my pennies-- Good Luck with the C5-
