02 Z06 2nd gear problem?
Z06 NEWB here... I recently purchased a low mileage 02 Z06. I have noticed that when downshifting into second gear (Only downshifting, and Only second gear) there is a vibration in the shifter as you go past the gate into 2nd that is a lot more than other gears. I don't know if I am wording this right or not, but it is as you pull it down into gear, clutch still pushed. Once it is all the way back into second gear there is no vibration at all. The clutch is firm and I haven't noticed any slipping or problem with anything else in the driveline. Does anybody have any idea what this could be Thanks in advance.

Hopefully you are not in the same boat I was with my '02 Z06. I noticed a lot of problems with second and with my shifter popping out of gear. Eventually I lost 2nd gear all together. Chevy had to replace my entire tranny. Also, there is a certain lot of '02s that had an aluminium 3-4 shift fork and there was a recall to replace it with a steel fork. I can't remember the specifics, but I am sure a search of this forum will provide you with more info.

Gear issues
I have a '03 Z06 and had many gearbox issues as well. I bought it with 4,000 miles on the clock and after all the issues, I can only assume that the original owner didn't know how to drive stick. It jumped out of 1st and wouldn't go into reverse on several occasions. I also had it grind into 5th as though it wanted to go into reverse. Ultimately the deeler rebuild the gearbox and she was golden until a few months ago. My Z06 is in the shop right now having the synchro for the reverse replaced. Hopefully this'll be it for gearbox issues. I tell you one thing though - with all the new parts - it was a whole new car
