Do I have the A6 or A4?

I have an '01 Vert. The manual that came witht he car says that I have the A6 tranny. It's got me wondering, though. Even when I get up to speed on the highway, it doesn't seem like the car shifts past 4th gear. IS the 5 and 6 shift really smooth enough to not notice or do I have the wrong manual? Where are the markings on the car that will let me know for sure?

No such thing as an A6 on a C5.

Never heard that before. Should be 4 speed. Manual trans. were 6 speed.

If you have an Automatic C5, it's an A4.

Now I'm wondering what the hell kind of manual the stealership gave me?

There should be a year on the manual.. it sounds like you got a owner manual for a C6 instead of a C5.

There is a 6 speed for C5's, but it's a manual trans, not an Auto...

The 2001 Owner's Manual covers all three models (Coupe, Vert, & Z06) & both tranmissions.

BTW, if you have a 2001 and you have only 2 pedals on the drivers side floor, you have an A4
