My keyless entry remote key FOB for my 1999 C5 has had problems. Scenario: last month it would not work at all. So I purchased a new battery resynchronized the FOB and it worked for one month. So, I then had to resynchronize it again; no luck had to purchase a new battery and it worked for about one hour. I then reset it and it worked for about another hour. Now it does not work at all. Anybody have this type of problem? Please advise, is it the Key FOB that has died?
mine is wierd too...i have a 98 and the problem i have is similar to your except the car will always unlock from a good distance but 3/5 times to get the damned thing to arm/lock i have to walk around the car close up and keep pushing the button...POS
Replace the FOB , classic issue . Been there .
Unfortunately , the 97-99 with passive switch are not cheap .
I do not recommend you buy one used because they may seem to work for the seller , but have the same problem you are having .
New is the way to go . Check with some of the vendors here , they may help you out on the price .
that will fix you problem . it's not the battery .

I'd check your existing one first. I have some experience with the programming of these and sometimes even when you change the battery...they don't re-sync the way they're supposed to. If you want to, take it to a dealer with a Tech 2 diagnostic computer and have them re-program your keyless system, that usually works. If not, I guess purchase the new one but a dealer will still have to re-program for you probably...Let me know if you can't find one cheap...I MAY be able to help.
