First of all - your existing side post Delco shouldn't leak as it is an AGM (absorbed gas mat) battery like the Optima. If you go to a traditional top post battery - you're going to have to either convert the terminals to make it work or buy some kind of an adapter which is probably available from the auto parts stores.
Why go through all of that?
If you go with an Optima - get the 75/25 with 720 cold cranking amps or the 34/78 which is slightly bigger and heavier (but still fits) with 800 cold cranking amps.
There are going to be a number of members here that will advise you that the Optima is no good because they had an issue with it. They will advise you to get an Exide Orbital which is also a good battery.
The Delco AGM has been discontinued by GM and it was replaced by the traditional top terminal battery in '04. The leakers were the side terminal batteries utilized from '97 - '00.
Do your research and buy the one that you like and feel comfortable with......
Personally - I've had my Optima for 2 1/2 years with absolutely no problems and would buy another.
Exide also makes a spiral cell technology battery , The Orbital which like the Optima is leak resistant.
Sam's Club sells a rebrand of it called NASCAT XLT that sells for under $100 complete with a 3 year warranty.
Their sizes are 35 (35/75 about $95 )and 34 (34/78 about $99) Like the Optima the 34 has more cold cranking amps.
I bought an Optima Red Top last summer with side and top option. No problems so far, other than the battery draining from sitting so long in the winter...
Having both sets of terminals makes it easy for connecting jumper/battery tender cables.
Exide also makes a spiral cell technology battery , The Orbital which like the Optima is leak resistant.

This is what I bought. 3 years and no problems. I bought the smaller size. Both meet specs and fit in the C5. Warrenty is 9 years total with 3 years full replacement and free jumpstart. This is the BEST warrenty for an AGM Battery.
i got an optima red top 34 78....... i actually had to pull it out of the vette in the middle of winter when my truck wouldn't start on a very cold morning.....started it with no problem
