Larry and Welcome to the forum. Of course you can post pics, you can't post attachments but all you need to do is have your photo hosted somewhere on the net like photobucket.com or similar and then just copy and paste the link into a thread and voila! The car and wheels look awesome.

You have to be able to upload the picture from a hosted site - which means a http:\\ site as you put it.
If you choose to create your own album of photos here on the CF - then you are uploading files (pics) directly from your computer to the CF server and they are being stored here. If you are a Lifetime Supporting Member - either silver or gold, you can perform an unlimited number of uploads, again directly to the CF servers.
My suggestion is now that you've read the tutorial - set up an account with Photobucket or or one of the other free web locations for pictures, or you can use a paid subscription location like Fototime. Upload your piocs to one of these and your good to go!
