Sway Bars
Just got mine here the price shown on this page was actually $235.00,not $283.00, when I ordered, and thats with the endlinks.
And boy you will love the feel of them on the road.
[[[And when its time to install this installation tip works great]]]
I did the whole vehicle without removing any tires, worked out smooth , took me about 1.5 hours total between raising the car and doing the work.
If I may suggest this technique(as stated by another forum member Mike ).Damn!!and I was going to take pics of each step and post them on my website, but I forgot.
[FOR THE REAR]
Raise the vehicle, or do it on the ground(too low for this cripple to do it that way),so Like I mentioned before how I raise my vette for work, with the tires down on my supports, I removed the rear sway, and removed the endlink nut that goes into the lower wheel support, so when you remove the old swaybar, the endlinks will be attached to the bar still.
[[[May I also add, when removing the original endlinks, I found it easier to just hold the nut with the 18mm open ended wrench, and back out the torx with the ratchet, this way your not fighting for space to menuever the open end wrench a notch or two at a time.]]]]
Remove the old endlinks, Keep the factory nuts/bolts you will need them again for the install(new hardware is not supplied with the new parts,in case you didnt know), then install the new endlinks onto the new sway and torque to 53 ft lbs while the new sway bar is still out of the vehicle, this way all you have to do is hook up the lower endlink nuts and your all set.Align the bushings up correctly (the old and new sway bar had markings on the bar for where the bushings attach to),Bolt up the bushing clamps (upper bolt is 49ft lbs, lower nut is 70ft lbs), and torque the other ends of the endlinks to 53 ft lbs.
Thats it your done, none of the suspension moved , so you dont have to worry about mis alignment of anything.
[THE FRONT]
I raised the vehicle the same exact way, with the tires resting on the planks as if it was on the ground again, like the way the rear was done.
Left the endlinks attached to the old sway and only unbolted the lower link nuts,so the sway removed has the old endlinks still attached to it, as with the rear, I removed the old links, and installed and torqued the new links to the new bar before installing it,again 53ft lbs, then I installed the sway, aligned up the new bushings (the bushing goes in only one way ,there is a grove that fits into the topside of the bushing) torqued the bushing clamp bolts to 43 ft lbs, then attached the remaing link nuts and torqued to 53 ft lbs.
There ya go , Mission accomplished, Hope this helps somone out there that is going to do this upgrade.
This tip was given to me from another forum member.
