I have a friend who is considering the brake rotor dust shields on his 99. Has anyone tried them ? He just bought the car and has to clean his wheels after 25 mi. I drive mine 70 mi to work every day and don't experience this problem. Let me know.
Ceramix brake pads are the answer to brake dust. I would be concerned about brake cooling with those brake shields. I thought they stopped selling them?

Brake shields are ugly and will cause overheating of the brakes if you ever really use them!
I run stock pads and have very little dusting problems. The key is to keep a nice coat of durable wax or polish on the wheels. I use Zaino on my painted wheels. It holds up well (I reapply it every 5-6 months) and very little dust sticks to the wheels.
Thanks for all the responses. Your answers back up what I was trying to explain to him, he is new to all this and waited a long time to take the plunge. He is still reading all the I want to go bankrupt catalogues. I have the ceramix pads on mine and will try to get him to go for them too. You do get what you pay for in quality parts. The cooling issue is a good point with the discs. For anyone who cares after 2 1/2 months I am finally starting to enjoy my car again the new engine and fixing all the goofy things that were wrong are now a thing of the past. I took the top out on thursday night and have not put it back in yet.The thrill is back. I hope everyone enjoys their car as much as I do mine.
