Guess it depends on your dealer, but there are numerous horror stories out there how dealers screw things up. I also do not want them reprogramming my computer to cut fuel if there is a problem. My CLB works fine...

I am sure there are some dealers and techs that are less qualified than others, I am not repeating second hand stories, only telling of my personal experience. The job was done quickly, professionally, and at no charge. There is no reprograming involved in the latest procedure. To each their own, I'm happy with the path I choose, time will tell if it was the correct one.

Actually, I think the latest GM recall addresses more issues than the aftermarket CLB.
The Gm recall installs a wiring harness with a relay that does essentially the same job as the relay in the CLB, plus it removes the lockplate so there is no chance the pin can ever engage the lockplate over time, and it keeps the actuator in the circuit to maintain the same electrical loads.

This is the same advisor that told me not to do the previous recall since it did not fix anything...

I have heard there is another issue regarding fuel cutoff even with the fix. Perhaps someone will chime in on that.
Then there is the issue of the plate removal. This then means that your steeing wheel cant lock, a feature that was designed as a theft deterrent which many like having. In effect, this fix removes functionality that should be there - correct me if I'm wrong
Finally, there now exists a skeptical attitude towards GM because of its track record involving past CL fixes that really arent fixes. And whereas its quite possible that GM may have in fact finally solved the problem this time around, owners are saying, "Ya, we've heard that before" and arent willing to be bothered when there is a simple solution that has been in place for quite some time
