I know what gears I have, but a buddy of mine isn't sure what he has in his stock 2000 Z28 Automatic. I've seen a general rule-of-thumb posted about going a certain speed in a certain gear to find out which rear end you have, but I can't find it after searching. Can anyone remind me what the process is, and whether or not this will work in a Z28?

Look on his option label in the center console. The codes are as follows: 2.73 = GU2, 3.08 = GU4, 3.23 = GU5, 3.42 = GU6, 3.73 = GT4. Hope that helps. If you can't find the label, post your VIN and I can run it for you.
If I am not mistaken (had a 1999 Z28 M6), but the option for an upgrade in the diff was for the vette, but the F-BODY was standard 2:73 (A4) and 3:42 (M6) and nothing outside of this, unless you upgraded with an aftermarket gearing.
