I dropped off my 04 conv for some warranty work and I asked about getting the wheels balanced. They told me they have some new machine for balancing tires that simulates the car at 60mph with weight on the tire like that car is on the road. He says is give excellent balance and road feel. The cost is $160. Has anyone heard of this? Is it worth it?
When you buy tires premounted on wheels from TireRack the Hunter RoadForce balance is FREE!!!
The Corvette tax you are being asked to pay is exorbitent !
Find another Hunter RoadForce balancer near you....
My man with the blacksedan knows his stuff. It's the Hunter DSP9700 road-force balancing machine. Does exactly what they say, and finds vibrations. However, my local place charges 10 dollars balancing per tire on this machine. Do the math, 160 is a rip.

Effing A! 160 for all four?! WTF?!!! Now, that is outrageous!
Please do "shop around", and, locate another tire installer near you that offers road force balancing with the proper equipment. And, the link mentioned up above should help you.
$160? If there is a Discount Tire (or America's Best, same company)near you - I don't think they charge anywhere near that amount!
I just had my tires removed from my old rims, mounted on my new C6 wheels and balance on a hunter machine at my local discount tire store for $200 total. they did an excellent job.
