On the way home today in my 01 Z06 the DIC displayed "Service Active Handling" (flashing) and then went in to a steady readout of "Service Vehicle Soon". Since it was past the time when I could stop at my dealer I drove home. Now when I start the car all the messages are gone. Anyone experience this and if so, what's the deal?

C5LOU,
How many miles are on your Z06? If under a thousand miles, that message appear occasionally as the relavant computer learns its operating parameters.
If it's beyond 1000 miles, it's probably a momentary commo synch issue. Only an issue if it begins to recur regularly. If you want to put your mind at ease, you can download the codes and see what's up, if anything. Here's a link for the correct procedure. http://www.corvetteforum.cc/techtips...D=26&TopicID=1
I have 1500 miles on my car. I took it out for another drive tonite and it was fine. Thanks for the feedback, Ranger. Looks like you're right! Gee, maybe I ought to go out again just to make sure, huh???????!!!!!! :D
Just keep an eye on it. Probably not a big deal. I however shorted my EBCM (electronic brake control module) at around 900 miles. Made it through 6 codes!
I have also had this message a couple of times. Check your DIC codes. If you pull up a C-1288H, this means there is a faulty steering wheel sensor signal going to your AH. You may also get a U-1064H code in the BCM. This indicated loss of contact with the Body control module by the AH/ABS systems.
these codes are outlined in the service manual (the three volumn set).
The messages will clear with a new ignition cycle, but you may get it again (especially under "agressive driving" conditions.
The AH will still be engaged when you get this message, but you will be unable to de-activate AH or go into Comp. driving mode until you clear it.
there is a TSB #1-05-25-004 out on this problem. I am told it only requires a re-program of the ABS module. see your dealer for details.
Mine did this at about 300 miles, kept reoccuring every time I would start driving the car. We tried clearing the computer out and it still kept coming back. I took it to the dealership and they fixed it. The dealership said it was a sticking sensor in the steering column. Not sure what the exact sensor was, but it fixed it and hasnt come back on since.
Ranger, Yea, made the deal with Karl's son but turned over to Mark, great guy and great dealership but my active handling light came back on second time, also will not let you go into competitive mode when that happens.
