How do you manually open the headlight doors. I read in the manual about a **** next to the headlamp assembly. Is that under the hood? They go on to say not to open the headlights when the hood is open, so I would think not.
i don't know what you mean about hood being open...but, there's a **** under the hood crank it and the lights will come up....you have to have the hood up.

Under the hood next to each headlight assembly there is a black ****. If you rotate the **** (it takes 20 or so turns to open them fully) it will manually raise the headlight assembly.
You can also open the headlights by turning them on and then clicking back once to the parking light position. The bulbs will go out but the lights will stay up.
The owner's manual says, "If the hood comes into contact with the headlamp doors when you raise the hood, you could damage the hood and/or the headlamp doors. Always close the headlamp doors before opening the hood."
Confusing. Seems like if the hood would hit the lights as it was opening, it would do the same as it was closing.
I'm thinking like to wash the car. I know if you turn the headlights on then go back to parking lights, the doors will stay open, but then you would have to let the parking lights on. No big deal I guess, but my 69 had a manual vacuum override switch below the steering column that would work the doors independently of the lights.

If it's just to wash the car, turn the lights on then to parking. Your battery will not die unless it's already on its way out. I did that all of the time with my 98 with no issues. When it comes time to replace the foglight bulbs, you'll want to use the **** with the hood up. Make sure you lower the lights before you close the hood.
