Hey guys, I know my name is c6hopeful, but after putting some thought into it I don't think I can really afford a c6. So ive decided to get a c5 at some point, may be a year from now, but I've already gotten pretty excited about it.
so my question is that long strip on the door (dont know what its called), its on some cars' pics that ive seen, and its not on some. did you guys have them removed (for those that dont have it)?? If so, once removed are there holes to fill up? I'd prefer not to have those...

Look down a few posts, and there is a excellent write up with pics!
Welcome to the forum. Those are referred to as "BSM's", or body side mouldings. They are door protectors and they were optional on C5's that's why some cars have them and some don't. Several owners have removed their's. Here is an excellent write-up on the removal process.
Thanks guys...yeah the waiting's gonna be tough but first I need to get a place with a garage first (right now im in an apartment), before i get a c5. There's no way I can leave a vette out in a parking lot.

Too bad you're willing to settle for a C5.....when you really want a C6.
Anyway - welcome to the best Forum on the 'net. I hope your dream comes true, and by the time you are ready to buy - C6's will have really dropped in price, and you can get what you really want.
welcome to the forums; regardless of if you have owned a corvette previously or not, getting a c5 is good stuff! provided you find a car in great shape w/ low/reasonable miles, you'll be getting a ton of performance @ a price FAR lower than that of a c6. if by chance money is no object ( ), then by all means get a c6 if that's where your heart takes you. either way, you win. do post pix when you get it. bub
yeah, well there are certain things I like about the c5 more than the c6...I think it is better looking certain aspects. I think the c6 is a little too short and the edges are a little too sharp, whereas the lines on the c5 are smoother.
As great as it would be to get the newest technology in c6 and the 400 hp stock, I'm afraid I don't have the money to get it.
But the more I've been looking at the pictures of the c5 and seeing how much fun you guys are having with them, I'm more than happy to get one... a 2001/2002 with fairly low miles for around 25k would be perfect.
