Default 2000 A/C Control

I just looked at a 2000 convertible and noticed that the a/c came on automatically. It's 40 degrees, so I suspect that there may be an issue with the climate control. Is this a common problem and can it be easily corrected? Any information is appreciated.

Not necessarily a problem. If you had window defrost on the a/c comes on automatically or if dual climate is selected the a/c will come on automatically.

It must have the memory package, and it's probably set on 70 or something. Not a problem, just an option....

In my 2000 coupe the A/c comes on while the heater's running to assist it.

I have a 2000 vert also. Don't take this the wrong way, but "read the manual". If the climate control is in the auto mode, the heat or A/C will come on as needed to maintain whatever temp you set. I love the automatic mode because you don't have to keep futzing with the temperature ****. If I have the windows open or the top down I generally turn the system off altogether. GM's manual isn't the greatest, but I managed to figure out the system. The CF is the best place for learning stuff!
