My wife was washing her Millenium Yelow 2002 C5 the other day and noticed what appears to be stress or spider web cracks in the paint on the side of the rear bumper. There is no apparent damage to the rear of the bumber so we don't think anything hit it.
The questions is, is repainting the bumper the only option or can the paint be buffed out??
Has to be repaired, can not be buffed out. I have a spot or two on my car, and am thinking of just buying a new bumper, having it painted to match, and installing myself. Body parts for the c5's are pretty cheap as compaired to other years. Fred bean has good price's on parts( a supporting vendor). Randy
I would say that there is a 95% chance that something hit it or the car was backed into something. The bumper is fairly resilient and probably won't show much damage if any, but the paint isn't made to flex that much. It looks like a low speed impact so the damage is probably limited to the paint.
You were tagged at low speed. The same thing happened to my wife's former car... we knew it was bumped by some blind old f*rt visiting the eye docter... same damage... no scuffs, just failed paint.
