I bought a c5 a few years back and I removed the mud flaps previously installed. The car has 20K orig miles and the only thing holding this back from being perfect is the fact that whom ever put on the mud flaps made some unsightly holes and now they look like hell. It actually pulled the material out when I slowly removed the screws. I don't think the installer drilled any pilot holes and just self tapped them in. What can I do. I hate the look of flaps but I need a way to repair/fill the holes?. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Is there any way you could post a pic of the holes. I'm thinking of putting on the fender guards but don't want to make the same mistake that was made on yours. On the other hand the roads are in such bad shape out here (Utah) and most of my driving is road miles, that I don't want to develop road rash on the rocker panels either. If pilot holes had been drilled, would that have made them less noticeable?
Thanks for any advice.
I like mine, they are molded to the body. You could alway fill the holes with expoxy or filberglass resin and airbrush the hole in. You might be able to mix some touchup paint with fiberglass resin and do it all in on shot. Mask off around the hole and give it a try.
i would never, ever have thought someone would put mud flaps on a corvette. go figure. bub
Look quick, and then do not be so quick to judge
Trust me, the idea of 'flaps' is not so bad - at least when considering your Vette will be laid up in a body shop due to road rash & costing $$$, and mine will still be on the road
IMHO I don't think the mud flaps.....the molded ones look all that bad frankly. Little bit of flange for a whole lot of protection. I don't have them, but I do keep looking at the different styles.

Got mud flaps on mine and have had them there since new. I don't think they look so bad, and have certainly kept the road rash off the side of the car.
As for the holes, either zipduda or dougbfresh's ideas sound like a possible solution. Good luck whatever you do.

Whatever you need to tell yourself to get through the night...
I was at a Vette show last weekend at a Chevy dealer, looks like the Z06 now has intergrated mudguard on the back from the factory. They only stuck out 2-3".
