I wanted to know if anyone had used the Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals and if they are okay for a Z06 that is used as an everyday car. I don't race it so I am not looking for extremely high performance, just something that compliments the car well.
I have about 3000 daily drive'n miles now on my Wide Ovals. LOVE THEM. If I had to pick the negatives I would have to say the sidewalls are ugly. But that complaint only lasted till my first hard accel.
They make ALLOT less noise with is a plus for some people. I kinda like the road noise feedback I got from the F1s. No biggy though.
They seem a bit more "bouncey" to me then the F1s. On crappy freeways, cough cough the 5 and 605, I get ALLOT more bounce up in the cabin, as apposed to hard jolts. I prefer the hard jolt over bouncey bouncey down the freeway.
Thats my 2 cents. Don't spend it all at once.
There is a thread around here that discussed the pros and cons for all our tire choices. I followed the thread and made my call for Wide Ovals.
I have the Toyo's as well and I love them. Great traction wet and dry. They have less road noise compared to the F1's and they look great on the car. I got them installed and tax for $825.
Just put on my Z16 and they are so much quieter. Heading
for Arizona in June to hang out with an old Army buddy.
Could not stand the road noise. You will like the Wide Ovals
Great tires for all around. I paid about $850.00 including shipping for 2 295/35ZR18's and 2 265/40ZR17's from treadepot.com. The 1-R's are the evolution of the T1-S's.

Instead of running the stock pressure setting of 30lbs bump them up to 32-36lbs until it goes away.
I tried my set with only 1000 miles on them last weekend at Road Atlanta. I thought it was going to rain my last session so I put them on. Well it didn't rain. Full tread those puppies squeeled like a pig all the way around the track. Cost me about 5 seconds. To look at them you would not beleive they just ran 25 minute session. No chunking and no visible wear. Had it been raining they would have been better than the SC. I ran them at 40lbs hot and there was no bouncey, bouncey...
