I just put these on last week and cannot for the life of me get these things to stick in there with the velco stickers. I love they way they look but they are annoying b/c they won't stick in there! One of them flew off and is gone already.
I'll give it another shot though. I bought them used and they had the velcro stickers on them and I went to an auto parts store to buy the velcro stickers for the side that sticks on the tailights (the previous owner obviously tossed those after he took them off his car), and for the life of me I cant figure out why the velcro isn't sticking...maybe its not reaching the other velcro piece but it seems like it should be. They are nickel sized circles about 1.5 inches in from each side of the blackout. (2 on each).
Car is 01 Z06 & don't know the brand of the blackouts but they are the contoured plastic ones the push right onto the tailights, not the flat ones that stay on the outside of the tailight opening.
Ask a local body shop, they may do it.
A friend of mine owns one, so I got him to paint my tail lights, 3rd brake light, and side marker. Once its buffed, its clean and smooth
Need to clean the tail lights with alcohol and also the Blackouts where the Velcro sticks. Get a good quality Velcro and you should not have an issue.
What I did was go to Lowe's or Home Depot and get longer screws. I used the Velcro to hold the blackouts in place then drilled the 2 holes in the blackouts. Then use the longer screws to put them back on with and they then will not fall off.
I did clean the taillights with windex before hand. Hmm longer screws eh? Thats an idea, but how'd you know the exact length to get? Also, how does it look? Do you have a picture? Was it hard to drill the holes exactly in the right spot?
The screws just need to be a little bit longer than stock since the Blackouts are not very thick. I used a small drill bit 1st to get the starter hole then moved to the correct size. I also got a can of flat black spray paint and painted the screw heads.
Was very easy to do just take your time.
No longer have that car or I would would get you some pics.
Yall havent seen blackouts until you have seen these
Ohhh yeah, every light on the Z is tinted out.......not the stick ons! These are actually my OEM lights. Wing Waxers, talk to Gene he will treat you right, havnt had mine fall off
