Default CAGS Bypass Location

Could someone please tell me where this is plugged in? I'm being lazy, 'cause I want to remove mine, and can't remember... it's been a while. I want to know ahead of time, so I don't jack up the wrong end of the car for nothing. Since My car's been prgrammed to eliminate it, I don't need it anymore, and figured I'd make it available to someone who could use it. Hey, this way, I'd be doing my part to help the environment, too, right?

1. Disconnect your Corvette's negative battery cable from the battery. The
stock cable color is black, but you should check the markings on the
battery to be certain.

2. To gain access to the CAGS solenoid, raise your Corvette as directed by
the GM Shop/Owners Manual. Be sure to follow all safety precautions and
use jack stands to support the vehicle.

3. The CAGS solenoid is located on the drivers' side of the transmission
towards the top and rear of the transmission. The wiring harness connector
is white and blue in color.

4. Gently lift the locking clip and unplug the connector from the
solenoid. Make sure the connector and solenoid are clean. Plug the black
end of the CAGS Eliminator into the wiring harness. You should hear a
snap/click sound when the wiring harness is completely seated. Plug the
white end of the CAGS Eliminator into the CAGS solenoid. You should hear a
snap/click sound when the connector is completely seated.

5. Lower Corvette according to GM Shop Manual procedures.

6. Re-connect negative battery cable and test-drive car.

Thanks.

I take it that means I should only have to jack the rear of the car, and easily be able to see it?

Correct. It sticks out like a sore thumb. You'll see the wires running to it.

Out of curiosity, why take it off? I could see if you didn't want to put it on, but.......

IF you have a set of ramps you don't even need to jack the car....
just back onto the ramps.....

That's how I installed mine....

During my custom tune, I had the tuner turn off the skip-shift, so now I don't need the by pass connector. Yes, I can just leave it there, but I'm sure there are people who want one, and don't want to pay for a custom tune, or simply don't need a tune. These CAGS bypass things are $20 for a little connector, so I thought I'd be nice and make it available to someone who can use one for 1/2 the price, or something.

Just to add to what Roadking posted - Be sure to zip tie the bypass portion of the CAGS eliminator up and out of the way so it doesn't just flop around under there. There are a couple of metal lines running just above the tranny and I used them as a secure point for the zip ties.

Hi MrLeadFoot -

That is cool - I took my CAGS rig off after I had the car tuned.

I gave it to a local friend (WAMARA).

One of the benefits of a tune - since even with the CAGS eliminator rig, you still see that pesky CAGS light on the dash. When you eliminate it with LS1 Edit, the light never comes on again!

best regards -
