Default Left side mirror keeps wandering

I have a 2004 Z16.

My external left side mirror keeps wandering on me when I drive. I can adjust it properly and then a few miles later I look and it has moved.

This of course is presenting somewhat of a safety issue as I might glance over and not see a car if it has shifted.

Any ideas on what this problem is and how to fix it?

Thanks in advance

The glass or the whole housing?

The whole housing is a spring issue that is very common and can be fixed. A member here has a little business going of fixing the housing springs. Sorry, I do not remember his name, but maybe a search might help you.

Good luck

I have a similar issue, but not quite as severe as yours. Both of my mirrors will sometimes wander (most often the driver's side), but it's always as the car is parked or when I get in. If the mirrors are off, a few presses of the memory button will slowly bring them back in line. It never happens when I am driving. It has to be some kind of electrical or programming glitch, both of which will be very difficult to diagnose, especially since it is intermitent. For now, it's annoying but I don't worry about it too much. Sorry I can't help with a solution, because you need one more than I do right now.

I believe after you ajust the mirror to what you want you have to push the memory button to keep them in the same position all the time i have had the same problem and thought someone was playing with my mirrors when i parked the car.

It is just the glass mirror panel and not the whole housing.

I had the same problem last summer with my 02 vert... Had to take it into the dealer and have the whole side mirror replaced as the gears inside the housing that hold the mirror in place were worn out. Now it stays where I program it..... Good luck.
