quick poll....but be honest
People always ask me about my car being a chic magnet. It turns out though, that it attracts more attention from males - and I don't mean in a "Brokeback Mountain" kind of way. I catch young kids, older guys, dudes at the bus stop, guys walking with their wives, etc., gawking at the car when I go by.
And here's the weird part: the car is loud as heck with LTs, no cats and Borla Stingers, but still the ladies' heads don't turn. Yet on the same street, guys will come out of shop doors just to get a look.
I am wondering if it is a geographical issue. I live in Portland Oregon, where the Acuras, BMWs and Mercs seem to be the female car of choice.
And on the other end of the continuum, the popular car seems to be a functional, utilitarian Prius or Honda. Somewhere in the middle is the Northwest mom driving an Outback or some other kind of SUV vehic that never sees the mud.
Believe it or not, muscle cars, even Vettes, kind of get the "white trash" treatment around here.
Here in Albuq. it's both --lots of younger guys, but I see women in passenger seats talking to the driver in their car saying 'nice vette'.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

I just LOVE telling them it's mine.

First time was because I didn't have the front license plate on. Cop walks up to the car and says, "I pulled you over because you don't have a front license plate. And this car sure does sound good..." The rest of the 15 minute conversation revolved around what mods I had done and some stories of his Vette that he used to have.
Second time, was like DeJa Vu. Cop on a motorcycle pulls up next to me, then drops behind me and turns on the lights. I was like, WTF?
I pull over, and he walks up to the side of the car and says, "I noticed that you didn't have a front license plate". Well this time, I was a little irked beceause I *DID* have a front license plate. I thought it might have gotten stolen. I said no way, I just got pulled over not too long ago for the same thing. Cop walks up to the front of the car, looks down and says, "Oops, my bad. I see the plate now. I guess I couldn't see it because the car was so low". Right. Anyway, he then says, "Man, this car sure sounds good". We then proceeded to chat about Vettes for the next 5 minutes.
