I registered with the mygmlink, and thought sure I put my VIN in right from the get go, but when I was all done, it acted like I didn't have my VIN. I went thru the add VIN procedure several times now. One time is gave a message "VIN successfully added", or something to that effect. Other times it said something like "unable to complete, try again later".
Bottom line is the link is still acting like it doesn't have my VIN and limiting what I can do. I also saw something about "if you already entered you VIN, your upgrade is pending".
My question is how long does it take it to recognize your VIN and let you access things?
If you purchased your car used it is likely the previous owner had registered the VIN on MyGMLink. You will need to contact their customer service folks and get "ownership" transferred to your user name and password.
Yup, happened to me too. Turned out that the paper work from the dealer didn't clear so the record of my VIN was still reg. to the pervious onwer, hence the GM mylink did not see it as valid.
I sent them an email and they took care of right away.
Took vette020's advice and called 1-866-MY-GMLINK (1-866-69-465465). I know, it's too many numbers for a phone number, but hey, it worked.
A very nice lady there got my account straightened out and working in no time. I did get the "all of our customer service agents are busy, please hold" message, and thought "here we go, a half-hour hold", but was only on hold for maybe 1 1/2 minutes.
I was kind of disappointed. I thought I'd be able to access all the stuff someone got me on the VIS, but it doesn't seem so.
Did find out the CL recall is still open on mine. Recall 04006. Now I have to do more research on that. The info from GM is saying all that they do on mine model and year is reprogram the PCM and check the locking plate for proper clearance. It also says the column lock will still be operable after the "fix".

I experienced similar problems some time ago, and just forgot about the whole thing. My (any) servicing dealer will have the car's complete history any way/

Yes, now that mine's working, I'm pretty disappointed as to what it actually does for you.
I have had trouble with the GMLink since day one.
The trouble that I'm having now is I have 3 vehicles on it and it shows
that 2 are past due for service and I just had one done. They keep telling me that they are working on the matter.
Last year they gave me a free oil change for the trouble I'm having with it.
GM has there troubles all over!
I tried to set up my vette on MyGMLink the other evening, but had problems getting the VIN recognized. Sent an email with the VIN to GM and had a reply the VIN had been added within 24 hours. Have not tried to use the features yet.

Other than showing you recalls and offering an online owners manual, it seems to me all the "service" feature is is a glorified spreadsheet where you can enter what you've done to the car when. It doesn't show records of service that was done at a dealers like the VIS does.
