Can the wheel center caps be removed without taking the wheels off the car? If so, what is the best way to avoid any damage to either wheel or center cap? Thanks in advance
They just snap in and can be removed by hand without removing the wheels. To keep from having to use something other than your fingers to pop them off, you might have to remove one of the lug nuts just to be able to get your fingers in on one side. If you can find someone with small fingers, you might not even have to remove a lug nut.

Is everyone here a newbie to cars? This one is as bad as the "How hard is it to replace my antenna" question.
I'm sorry but newbies should not be driving Corvettes unless they know what they are doing. Learn about cars first, then buy them.
Whew, rough crowd this morning... But generally I agree, some of the questions asked lead me to believe that the person(s) asking have no grease under their fingernails. Granted one has to start someplace, but remember working on and around vehicles can be hazardous, especially if one doesn't know what they're doing.
If you need to start doing your own mechanic work, try to have a mechanically inclined friend to watch over you until you know the correct standard safety practices. May save a trip to the emergency room. This may not apply to the person asking the original question, but I had nothing else to yak about this morning....

Is there a way to remove my antenna without damaging it? Do I use a hacksaw or a swazall to make it a shortie? To change the oil, should I have the engine removed from the car and flip it upside down?.....Sorry, i'm an azz. Someone does makes a specialized tool for it.
I appreciate your help. I have been rebuilding cars probably longer than you have been taking up space on this planet. I suppose you took a class to learn about all the wheels and their trim on every car you ever thought about buying. Many trim caps are held on by their lug nuts and the wheel has to be removed to take them off. To those who gave sensible advice "Thank You". To the rest with time for the "intelligent" comments, you know what you can do.

Hi Z06-LITE -
Dont\'t get discouraged by some of the crusty old veterans here - they will be invaluable when the time comes, but you kinda have to take your ration, if you know what I mean....
I cannot get the center caps off of my Z without pulling a lugnut - but I suppose you could use like a plastic spatula to pry one up.
The stick on pretty good, but they snap off without too much drama.
I removed one lug nut from each wheel and the caps could be removed with my fingers. Thanks again for your help. I guess I need to be a little more tolerant of some of the old codgers on here. I am only a mere 60 years old myself.

You are right. It seems like all the center caps are a little different and if you don't know how they are attached you can break them trying to get them off.
I also have a Malibu that has a center cap with black "fake lug" nuts on it, and it looks like the whole cap should just pop off. Turns out the "fake lugs" go through the cover and thread onto the real lugs underneath, so you have to unscrew each "lug" in the cover to remove it. Luckily, I did not pry on it too hard before I tried unscrewing the lug covers.

I doubt it.
But anyone can look at the centercaps and tell how they come off. I used a flat blade screw driver with cloth wrapped over the blade. It's not rocket science you know.
