Default Z06 Alternator Cover...

Isn't it an eyesore when you open up your hood? :o
What are you guys using to make it look half-way decent, short of polish them out?
I was thinking cover all the air vents and sand the cover smooth, and paint it with a silver/aluminum matching paint.
Any recommendation?

Compared to my 94 Mustang, the ZO6 engine bay astonishes me. GM really did a good job of making the bay pleasing to the eye..
Valve covers that cover all the wires, most wires routed where you cant see them.. Just the look of the engine looks powerful.

The alternater.. if it really bothers you, I suggest getting a chromed one. Taking them apart and putting them through a polishing/painting can jeapradize their reliability.

I wouldn't cover the air vents. They're there for cooling. Electrical components don't like heat.

I know. I meant covering the vents so that metal shavings don't get inside.

Yes, it is expensive ($600.+). I understand you can send them out to a chrome shop for way cheaper, but you have to remove all the internals first. Most have suggested that's not too difficult. I'll get around to it one of these days .............Tom
