Yesterday was our first 'ragtop day' since getting my vert...my goodness is it nice to cruise with the top down! Years ago I had a Camaro with t-tops...dropping the top is so freakin' easy compared to the trouble of stowing the tops.
Whoever posted the tip to raise your windows an inch or two on the expressway...that was awesome advice, really quiets it down when doing 70+.
Does the top down have a dramatic effect on gas mileage? I would swear I could actually see the gas guage dropping, but my instant mpg readings seemed the same as with the top up and it didn't seem to be affecting the average mpg. (Might have something to do with 65 degrees, sunshine, and the radio a little too loud though!)
I love the verts. I couldn't afford one at the time I bought my cpe. Removing my roof is a pita. Even when it's off ........not the same. Almost (not really) makes me miss my old MG. Cant wait to get my vert some day.
I do see a difference in mpg with mine down on the highway. I usually get 28mpg+ on the highway but with the top down and windows down it drops to 24 or 25... windows up maybe 26ish. Around town though it doesn't matter. I keep my foot in it and get around 15 either way
Definitely felt it today on the way into work. I had to give a little more gas to maintain speed on the freeway. But I'll sacrifice 2-4 mpg to have that top down.
I thought I was getting worse mileage with the top down too!... till I set the cruise control on the highway and discovered I was still getting the same 28mpg top up or down. Its the sound of that blasted Corsa exhaust! I keep mashing the peddle without even realizing it, and with the top down, its sound to the ears... so I mash the go peddle even more!
Goin' topless is sooo much fun.
Congrats on your vert.
I bought mine back in December and every
time it's even cloudy I drop the top and
crank up the heat. With the warmer weather
coming, it'll be that much more enjoyable.
