I just bought a 2000 pewter vette, anyway cutting to the chase..

-the ebrake sucks ... read the posts on that so going to do that this weekend

-replacing the BOSE with a kenwood mp3/sirius player... but my question is...

1) Anyone have images of the din kits available for the vette? id like to have a storage slot on the bottom rather then just empty space on top and bottom...but not sure if they are available...

2) Anyone replace the door lame bose 8's with real 8inch subs? and if so what highs are you running? did you use the bose amp or external? and how much dynamat is needed if any?

3) Anyone chop up their cigarette lighter and ash tray to put cool stuff there? like sirius tuners? toggle switches etc? if so post up some pics i am a non-smoker and have no use for that... but the little flap would hide the toggle switch's nicely... im going to install a k40 radar/laser system and installing the switch there.


Pictures of your stereo and basic info would be great...im not looking to spend a ton but i hate this 6 year old bose system.

-Also.. Does anyone have any pictures of ram air coming through the front bumper tag bracket???

I don't have a pic, but I put an aftermarket Alpine Mp3/cd in my 99 and with the holder in place, it just barely has enough room on top and bottom to be filled in by boring black plastic

I was hoping for enough room for a tray, but there was not...

look at diffrent HU's, they offer din and a half sizes that will fill the whole space. Another option is to contact the forum member who makes those custom anidized and engraved bezels...i dont have one, but somebody that does will probably chime in. i remember those looking pretty nice...

damn englandgreen, that is an amazing install... just spent the last 30 minutes reading it, wow... well im not prepared to take on such a venture... im thinking of doing an easier not so cool install... tell me if i have loopholes...

install the 8 inch subs in the blose holder, install the mid where the blose mid was, i do like the tweet mount in the door handle i may have to do that but as for the amp, i was thinking of running that from the blose one also... basically just updating the speakers... is this possible? or would the blose amp just well... blow?

Lastly do you know anywhere online i can get the fascia with the slot?

I dont have the cash flow nor the time to attempt a big install, but if i havent expressed it yet, im jealous of your install, good job man
