Has anyone done a mod to keep the antenna from extending when playing the CD. Is there a shorty antenna that will work with a vert? I saw a switch in one of the catalogs but it seemed a little pricey for wires and a toggle switch. If someone has done this I would like to see the setup or learn more about it. I'm just wondering if there is more to it than just interrupting power to the antenna motor. Thanks.
I bought the one from Mid-America and it works great. But, I saw somewhere on the forum, that you can just get a on-off switch from Radio Shack and splice into the Pink wire at the back of the car.
I purchased the one from mid-America also. All it consists of is a toggle switch with 2 long black wires soldered to it. You cut the antenna's pink wire, and connect each side of the pink wire to one of the toggle-switch's black wires. Takes about 2 minutes.
However, once I realized that the mid-America one was nothing more than a toggle switch and wire that can be bought from any Radio Shack, I sent it back and went to Radio Shack. I didn't really like how the toggle switch looked, so I went with a square black plastic flip switch that looks like it could have been stock from GM. I mounted it inside the center console next to the accessory power plug, and then ran the wire underneath the carpet to the rear where the power antenna is. Whole thing took less than an hour. Good luck.
Hey Thanks for the info everybody. That is something I wanted to do and was afraid if I bought the MAM one I wouldn't like the switch. I think the lines of car are interrupted with the antenna up and there is no reason for it to be up if your are not using it. Thanks again.

I'm making up my mind between the Frost King mod or the precut from Exotic to insulate and sound deaden. I think I'll wait until the carpet is out for that to do the antenna mod.
I installed a power antenna in my Z06 when I put my after market stereo system in and also purchased a switch from Radio Shack to control the antenna.
Here's a linke to the Tech Tips section that tells how to splice in the pink wire: https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...D=38&TopicID=1
The antenna motor will definatley last longer. I have installed a switch on several cars that I have owned over the years and have never had to replace an antenna motor.
$3.00 for a push button switch from the rat shack, and I used some wire that I had laying around.
I spliced into the antenna power wire in the passenger side footwell and mounted the push button switch inside my enter console armrest storage area.
