Land O'Lakes (north Tampa) Florida to Miami, Florida.
Only two stops, one for a toll both and the other for a quick 'pit-stop'.
I was averaging 70 mph all the way down to alligator alley. For those of you not familair with it, alligator alley is I-75 cutting acroos the state from Naples to Ft. Lauderdale. Its about 110 miles. The 70MPH average is deceptive beacuse it includes the stop and go sections.
Alligator alley is a 100 mile gauntlet. A straight line 2 lanes wide in each direction. I had the cruise set at 76 mph and was getting trampled over. By the time I got across my average speed had gone up to 72+. My 'pit-stop' was on the alley.
Gas Mileage was 31.8 before the alley and 29.9 after it. I happy with that. I have the stock exhaust and a dirty air filter. If I could make that run doing the speed limit (and without being a danger to others for going too slow) and with a low restriction intake and exhaust I know I could get 33-34 mpg
You gotta love all the power of the Vette & yet good gas mileage. However, at the other end of the spectrum, I avg 6.7 at Road Atlanta running $7.50/gal Race Fuel.
I live in AZ and once a year I go from PHX up to Flagstaff in July. It's about a 5000 ft change in elevation. I use the A/C most of the way there and back and avg around 75mph. Last year my mpg average was 27 for the trip up and 33 for the trip back down. Overall avg of 30mpg.
Last year I drove to Phoenix for the Subway 500 and did the 650 miles in just under 10 hours. That's 90 mph most of the way. I got 32.5 on the way there without the cruise control and 33.2 on the way back with cruise at about 90 most of the way. That's what the computer figured and gas reciepts were the same, off by about a tenth.
Yup. Granted, in 6th gear, it can't pull its way out of a wet paper bag, but with the cruise on around 70 or so, whaooooo. Whodathunk, the vette was the econocar in the garage!?!?
