I'm ready to close a deal on an04 Commemorative Edition Coupe
( thanks to some input and clarifications from members of this forum) which has the GMPP Major Guard with it. Other going to a dealer, is what is the best way, or quickest way to validate that the original warrant and tjhe Major Guard are still in effect and transferrable? Are any fees associated w/ this transfer?
There should be a 1-800 number with the GMPP warranty, call them up, give them the cars VIN# and theyll give you the info on the status of the warranty.
One important advantage of the GMPP warranty is that many independent shops accept this warranty for work done on your Vette. Which means you are not locked into taking your car to the dealer for warranty work.

Theres usually a $50 owner transfer fee.
From the back of my warranty card:
"For assistance, contact your participating dealership or call 1-800-631-5590."

I just went through this. You have to have the seller sign a warranty transfer form, and mail it to GMPP along with fifty bucks. The form is online as a PDF. Just google it.

FYI, my car came with no maintenance records from the PO, but he told me that he had all his regular service performed at the dealership and gave me the name of the dealer. Apparently, that was all that's required. Since buying the car in January, I've had it in for warranty service twice, with no questions asked. Nobody at the dealer asked to see any service records.

Maybe your car is still under the factory warranty.

Nope. It's a 2002 vert. The PO bought it from a dealer, used, with a GMPP warranty with a zero deductible that I was able to assume after filing the paperwork and paying the transfer fee.

Good info - the folks at GM failed to mention getting a form signed. I'm picking the car up on Wed so your post saved me an extra trip or mailing stuff back and forth. Thanks
