Default Isntall Help

Just bought a new COWL piece and notice that I have to remove the windshield wipers to swap the pieces out. ANY tricks to doing this?

Thanks for all of the help.

beer, cuss words, more beer and a few more cusswords. After undoing the nut holding the wipers on, you should beable to just pull the arms off....but they're pretty stuck on there, so pull hard, or find apuller that will work.

Before you begin, turn the wipers on to intermittant, let them sweep once, then shut the ignition off. This will leave the wipers "undocked", and resting on the windshield.
Take a couple pieces of tape, and stick a piece to the windshield above and below each wiper blade...this will make reinstalling and orienting them correctly very easy.

The arms sit on tapered, splined shafts. After removing the nuts, wiggle them back and forth on the shaft, they usually pop loose pretty easily.

Beer is a great idea too...but has little to do with the actual wiper removal process.

That is a great idea with the tape. I guess we are never too old to learn new tricks. Thanks for that little tidbit. It will go into my data bank.

Just an FYI, what I did was pull the nuts off, then penetrating oiled them, then hit the shafts 3 times each with a punch, without hitting the windshield or threads, and the wipers practically fell off.
