Free advertisement? VetteDoctors is a paying sponsor and can advertise anywhere, anytime on this forum. I very much doubt a reputable sponsor that has been with the forum for years would go through the trouble of posting up a bogus raffle, hiring a couple of models and post up the video for your viewing pleasure. All this to save themselves a set of headers that retails for what $1,500?

I agree it's a coincidence that a single poster won the raffle but I wouldn't say it's suspect. There was no entry fee and no one lost a single red penny. Beginners luck...it happens.

Congrats to OB'sZ06.

gamisou,

Are you F'n kidding me? Why in the hell would 2 very reputable businesses (American Racing Headers and The Vette Doctors) go through all this trouble to:

1. Pay thousands a year to sponsor web sites
2. Spend thousands R&D'ing a new product
3. Spend thousands Marketing a new product
4. Spend Hours creating and prepping for the give away
5. Spend a lot of cash hiring 2 models to help promote the give away and bring attention to it
6. Host it at a public Corvette Challenge Race in plain view of over 3 dozen peope
7. Video tape the damn thing showing the whole thing in full view
8. Post everything on the Corvette Forum

And then to save a few to several hundred bucks (American Racing Headers Cost of Fabrication) rig the stupid drawing so a made up member can win.

Am I the only one that thinks this is ludicrous?

Do you have an alternative motive here? Are you a competitors customer and are jeolous of the nice remarks people are giving these two great guys for giving something back to the fourm?

You owe these 2 gentlemen a huge apology!!!

I was there! I did the videotaping. I saw the stupid bucket with the over 1000 tickets in it. It was fricken real you stupid ***!

The number of post you have on CF did not change the odds of winning, every entry had the same chance. Could it be that the person who won heard about the contest on an other forum and came over to CF just to enter the contest?

HAHAHA.. You guys amuse me... its VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY Simple..

Here is how it goes:

"FORUMEMBER" sees a raffle for a kick *** car part... he sees that he can only enter once... what on EARTH could he POSSIBLY DO about it?!?!?!?!?!

Hmmmmmmm... let me think....... hmmm... Perhaps create a new (or dozens of new) names under Corvette forum and enter under all of them.... thereby increasing his/her chances of winning 10-20 or more TIMES!!!... So therefore he/she goes from having a 1 in 1250 chance to a 50 in 1300 chance!!!! not hard to figure out... is it fair? HELL NO!.. is it possible and Probable!?!?! HELL YEAH!!

I am looking at that post now to see how many "Junior Members" with 1 post posted on that thing..... will be back in a bit with the results...

Hogwash that its rigged... what needs to be changed is the rules on the entering of the drawings... but that is up to the vendors to make and enforce the rules..... it would be very easy for the admin to find out who made all the new accounts just to enter... but its not really "illegal" if the vendor stated it was so!

I never said it was rigged just stating what I observed, and that it seemed like BS. It is very possible that that ob joined just to enter the raffle. I didn't start this thread to badmouth vettedoctors I would have loved to win. Just wished they posted the winner here, hopefully ob'sz06 will chime in here and let us know how he likes them.

Here are the members that were created just for this raffle (that I could find):

speedy1054
OB'SZ06
buchanan

And there a BUNCH of names I see in there that were created a LONG time ago, but have only like 3-5 posts in a year or 6 months... which leads me to believe they were created for that reason a long time ago, and just now act as another entrance for a current user every time a raffle comes along...

Z Vettes

is a POSSIBLE example of this... 9/05 join date 3 out of 5 posts since then were in this raffle...

VetteProfessor

another POSSIBLE example... joined 5/05... 2 posts, one of which is this raffle..

Spidervette

Another POSSIBLE example of this... joined 12/04, 7 posts 3 of which were this raffle, and another of which was for a different raffle (on 2/16/06, the day after this raffle started) 2 more posts which were "test" posts....

Was very implied by your first statement:

eIt's funny how the guy who won the vettedoctors headers was a member from march 06 and his ntry is his only post. The whole thing seems like free advertisement for them.
free advertisement would imply that they never intended on giving the item away... hence free, hence rigged.... whether you intended to or not, you did imply it... BUT, I am not bad mouthing you... you brought up a good point... one that should be addressed... if current members are "cheating" by entering multiple times under different names... how fair is that?

Then some rules should be made for entrants for raffles. The cheating by members is a way more plausible reason for why this happened. My appologies for I may have offended vettedoctors.

I think Sandmanusd has the most logical take on this.
Does it sound sketchy?.............yes
Does it seem vettedoctors would rig a giveaway in this manner...............

Absolutely not!

That is all...........the end

Yeah and if that's the case, we can find that out easy enough.

I think it's pathetic that any of you would even think this way about the Vette Doctors. These guys go above and beyond what everyone else in the business does.
They are the most honest and fair in the business of those I have met.

I have a feeling most of you will be making an apology to Carmen and Dennis.

I did you all a favor and checked the IP's of those names listed and none are even close to each other.

SO start apologizing.
