Default Exhaust Sound Chart

Hey folks, i dont know if this has already been covered before, i did some searching and didn't find nothing on it, but i just wanted to toss it out there for folks to see...

In the hunt for an exhaust, i resisted the temptaion to ask "Duhh... What one is bettah?" on CF, but instead i wanted to post something that i thought was useful to me, because i'm sure there are a lot of others out there looking at different exhaust systems.

I think i've decided i want the B&B Bullet exhaust system. I was lookin for something pretty loud, and after finding this chart, it seems to affirm my hopes of affordable loudness.

Any comments on the accuracy of the above chart from personal experience maybe?

Good stuff there... I like the compare feature... i wish the recording equipment was better though...

Thanks,
Dan

This thread works the other came up empty.

As for that chart I can only speak for the two systems I have. I believe it is right on for the Borla Stinger and B&B Route 66 system.

Nice chart!!

I just got an e-mail from Corsa today. Here's what they had to say:

We, in fact, have had confirmation of actually being up to 2db quieter than even the factory mufflers between 50-80mph at cruise. We are literally the only manufacturer with specific patents associated to our technology who can eliminate resonant drone.

All CORSA systems are completely straight through and have no form of separation by baffle, packing, etc. You can literally roll a ball through our entire kit.

Both [Touring and Pace Car] systems add a dyno proven 10-12rwhp over stock and are only different by the way we tune sound level frequencies through the muffler cases. We incorporate RSC technology, which is a way of isolating high and low frequency tones while not changing any of the dynamic flow patterns of the exhaust gasses. It may help to think of our design as being more like a musical instrument that creates a sound, rather than a typical "glasspack" which will just absorb tone.

The Touring is the more mellow version of our systems, and also features a higher pitch when it comes to C5. The Pace version is the more aggressive, deeper system while still offering no drone.
On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being stock, what would the touring and pace editions rate at idle, cruise and hard acceleration?

Touring: idle= 2, cruise= 1(stock or below), acceleration= 3

Pace Car: idle= 4, cruise= 1(stock or below), acceleration= 7

Pace Car is by far the most popular option and makes up roughly 80% of total C5 sales. It really is the better option if you plan to keep mods to a minimum. (i.e.. stock cats, manifolds, etc)
If I add heads and cam later, will the dynamics of either system change in relation to interior resonance and volume? If so, by what degree?

It would boil down to lobe separation and lift of the cam. There is quite a bit of leniency to what our design will allow. We ourselves had a Tigershark prepared stroker motored C5 running a World Challenge Series race cam and heads from Wheel to Wheel Powertrain. It was literally on the same sound profile as a 2004 Z06 with our system on it when tested in comparison.
Not sure which system they were referring to here, Tour or Pace Car. I have replied asking for clarification.

B&B Bullets and SLP Loudmouths are significently louder than all the others - even the Borla Stingers.

Just a FYI.

I don't think I agree with the 1 to 3 rating system.

It should have a wider spread, at LEAST 1 to 5.

For example, I have the Corsa Pace Car system, and while it lets out a pretty good bark on WOT, by NO means should it get the SAME 3 rating as some of the other systems listed, which are MUCH louder.

I've been thinking about getting the Pace Car system installed at Funfest this Sept. (10% off) if I can wait that long

I can tell you that the sound bite for the B+B prt's is right on

I would agree the chart should be at least 1-5 though,to be very accurate

Edit: you have to go to the mid america site for the sound bites to work :o
I heard them yesterday, and thought this was a link,...but no

That's a cool chart, but where would the Z06 Ti versus stock C5 comparison lie in that chart? What would the numbers be, from those in the know?

Thanks for the chart. Interesting as I thought the B&B's were the loudest given the posts I've read.

EG

My Stingers are super quite once the motor warms up. Almost like stock at idle...
