The chatter noise could be a normal occurance, these cars have a noisey throwout bearing which contributes to what we call the "marbles in a can". The vibration however doesn't sound right to me. You might want to have it looked at as the noise could be symptomatic of the vibration and not actually the usual noises that we associate with the bearing.
Vibration would concern me (initially) a bit more than the noise, but you have two good reasons to get the car checked out. If you're getting that much vibration, there is an issue. I would take it in for a check. Better to know that something more serious develops.

Good Luck
i stopped in at autozone...ya i know. but i know a older guy that works there with a 9 second mote carlo and hes a chevy fanatic. i satrted it and shut it off and he said it sounds liek a heat sheild of some sort. are those prone to rattling? it does sound liek something like that. and as for the vibraion, go you guys feel anything when you shift in yoru clutch? just smooth with no vibration at all?
I'll bet the noise is normal but the vibration isn't. Mine is a smooth as silk since I bleed the clutch. You might want to try that before you go further. I had a vibration in an older car and it turned out to be a warped pressure plate. I hope that's not your problem.
