I finally finished the pre cut insulation kit last week. I tried to be as objective as possible, I didn't want to kid myself just because of all the effort required to install all those little @#$%^%*&^ pieces! I am extremely happy with the results. I have an 04 vert, and as someone else said, now I notice some other noises, wind leaks, etc. now that the insulation is in. I did the heated seats at the same time and am very happy with both. The insulation kit is FAR from perfect though. I can't believe how much time I spent filling in so many places. The kit is a definite plus, but be warned. Maybe I got carried away filling in, but I don't think so. With all that work stripping the interior, I wasn't going to be sloppy about missing any spots. What a pain in the ***, but worth it.
I also did the full interior using the pre-cut kit. Yes it is a TON of work especially around the trunk area. To be honost I think I heard more sound reduction from doing my hardtop trunk partition than the entire pre-cut kit. Dont get me wrong its a great kit just dont expect the vette to be as quiet as your grandmas new Cadillac DTS.
I notice most of my interior noise is still coming from the damn tires. And im not even running runflats anymore.
Just ordered my kit from Exoricvette, where did you get your kit from?
That's where I got my kit from. I am self employed, and some people say I am a little too fussy at times, but this kit while good, did not live up to my expectations. I am pleased with it, would recommend it with qualifications, but I expected better as far as the fit is concerned. I do however notice a big difference in the sound levels. Those of you that have done this will attest, and those of you that do this in the future will see why we have so much road noise entering the cabin. There is nothing between us and the road, thanks GM! I hope to post pics soon. If you do this, it's not rocket science, just give yourself some time. Oh, and cover the kids ears.
I guess I'm a bit suprised in all of the posts I've read have been highly complimentary of the kit. Was it a matter of not enough material or just how you personally elected to place it? No offense intended....not suggesting you didn't know what you were doing.
Thanks

One of my painters employees (Upholstery Installer) installed my kit for me and there was a bunch of parts missing. Luckily there was what looked like a spare piece that didnt really go anywhere so he cut it up and filled in the spots.
But he said it was a huge pain in the butt. I have yet to drive it so I dont know how well it works. But I definately feel that for the money, their should be a little extra sent with the kit PLUS I should have Instruction "Sent" with the shipment. They had to try and hunt down pictures and instructions on the internet. (Kinda Lame IMHO)
If I had it to do over again, I would have bought the "Frost King" stuff from Home Depot, and saved 150 bucks. Cause thats almost EXACTLY what it looks like.
Sorry, Just being honest...
I would say that this IS NOT for the **** person who wants it right.. If you are, buy a few rolls of Frost King and do it yourself. That is the ONLY sure fire way to fill in all the spots.
FWIW, I got mine from a local CF Vendor out of the F/S section.

Sorry you had so much trouble with the kit. I got mine from Dan(Crazy Cowboy), a forum vendor. All pieces cut, all fit, and he ships the pieces rolled up in extra insulation, so I had enough to do the inside of the rear wheel wells with plenty left over.

The kit does not cover the car without adding a lot of small pieces, period. It does a good job, but far from perfect. I would think anyone would want to cover everything like I did if you go through all the trouble of removing all the carpeting and interior pieces. The directions were not 100% accurate for my 04 vert. One small piece was missing from the rear set. No big deal as there was enough extra to do that piece and all the others required, but... The pieces were installed correctly. Just my honest review, take it for what it's worth.
Steve8,
Having done the kit, would it be easier to simply buy the bulk rolls of FrostKing and cut to fit? That product is self sticking. I assume you could lap some pieces without creating too much bulk.
I believe Crazy Cowboy's material is 3/16" vs Frostking's 1/8". Any opinion from anyone on that?

Like I said, maybe I am being picky, but I expected better coverage from the kit. I still think the kit does have to be a big help over installing the rolls, but I have no experience doing it that way, so I can't be certain. Sorry I can't give you a better answer.
