My guess is that whoever cut the key didn't get it quite right on one of the sides.

Double sided keyes have to be cut with great precision.

OK, I was not aware of that. I thought that they were shipping, as I was seeing some pretty favorable reports here on the forum.

Hopefully we'll all get our product - the pictures of the fob that I've seen so far look top-notch.

Be careful of what you hear from people who hear things...

I know several people who got theirs, including me. The delays were on the colored front plates. If you ordered one of those, there were delays; before all the posts disappeared, it seemed like the colored fronts came in and were ready to ship. Those who ordered no colored plate had theirs shipped in a timely fashion.

FWIW, I agree with Stuart, the key is very nice.

I think corvettekey could use a better FAQ and more accurate shipping info, but I'm sure that will come with time. I, like Stuart, think they just weren't prepared for the volume of orders (at least I hope that is the case, I've a feeling my corvette club members will be all over this like white on rice at the next meeting).

Why is this key apparently so hard to use, Ive seen several responces to this post on what people had to learn to do yo make this key work "turn it 360 degrees, push it in further" I have never had to learn how to use a key. Is this something with this product or are these old ignition tumblers?

I would be willing to guess that almost all (if not all) the people who had problems got theirs cut at a lock smith. When you are using the wheel, this design is a PITA to cut both sides. What ends up happening is that the two sides don't quite line up right. Keep looking for a place with an automatic key machine that will cut it for you (home depot, longs, rite-aid, lowes, etc). Those machines are cutting both sides in the same fashion - thus reducing the chance of a key only working one way

Point well taken. I did get my FedEx shipment notification late yesterday, so the gentleman I spoke with at CorvetteKey was telling me the truth.

I did get the black logo plate and opted to not go for a color, so the fact that they shipped mine quicky co-incides with your statement.

I am considering one, but would like to see more successfull implementations before "pulling the trigger".

neither lowes nor home depot would touch my key with their automatic cutters.

others have had luck getting them cut there, but not all of them will cut it.

Want one, but haven't purchased yet.....I want to wait and see if some of these issues can be refined.

I also think Corvette Key could be doing a much better job of posting info. about these issues customers are running into. Would help customers anticipate rather than fumbling along with the key. Finally, IMHO they should have certainly anticipated the volume, given the hype and buildup that went on for almost a full year about the Key.

Well, at this point, CK can't post ANYTHING about the product because they are no longer a supporting vendor.

That's the kicker for me.

Did they just decide to pimp the forum for quick sales and then pull their support or did they forget to pay their bill or what? Seems to me that the last thing they would want/need to lose is their supporting vendor status - they are now essentially sealed off from all of us (many of whom are undoubtedly customers) here on the forum.

Either way, it's a bad move on their part, IMHO.

Fair enough......then they should post on their website. The impression I'm getting is they pumped the Forum with hype, sold what they could and vanished from the scene. A little harsh perhaps but every great product has to be supported by great customer service. Doesn't appear to be the case with these guys.......Okay - off my soap box

I don't understand why my original postings and photos of my "corvette key" were deleted but none of the vendors’ messages were deleted. It seems to me corvetteforum is taking sides on this issue also. ?

I suggest anyone on the fence with this product wait until they are able to see up close and in person before ordering. The vendor now has a small notice on its web site that reads "no refunds". Mind you, it's not easy to find that notice. It's their way of refusing to refund money for any returned product. Once you buy it, you're stuck with it.

Default Ok... this is true...

I ordered on Feb 22nd.. paid for it... credit card.. got the bill, paid it... Still no key... They lied, time after time.. the sent me tracking # on March 29th... said they got the parts they were waiting for... but..they never shipped... they told me the would give me 2... 1 for free... they promised to ship on the 4th of April.. I asked for tracking #'s... but seems that is too much for them to respond... So...as of April 6th... I still don't have one...

Hard for me to believe after hyping the key for over a year on this forum that "they weren't prepared for the volume of orders." Seems highly implausible, unless they are simply totally inept, which it would appear, they are, with few exceptions.

They're probably busy enjoying their vacations to the Bahamas that so many here have graciously provided them with their orders. If they keep charging credit cards before shipping their product, they're going to run the risk of losing their merchant status also, if the credit card companies catch too many complaints. Good luck to all who ordered and are still waiting.

do you work there or something? you seem to be taking this post awfully personal. relax. i have to agree with some other people that have posted. it should not be so hard to use a key......flip it 180 degrees, push it in harder, pat your head and rub your stomach, etc.....i mean a 3 year old should be able to use a key.

yeah, im believing the post'er is working at corvette key also. and i also agree that you shouldnt have to "work" with a key to get it to work. it should just work. has anyone tried the stealerships to see if they can cut the key? they do car keys only (duh) so they might be able to do a two sided key ok....hope this thing works out, i think they are neat, would like to see why they arent a supporting vendor anymore and why we cant get these things to work right.

and if sorny really works there, which it points that direction, maybe he can 'pretend' to discover all the answers to the questions and hurry up and post them.

No, I don't work for them. Frankly, a 3 year old can use the key. If it is mis-aligned a bit (like I suspect mine is), it takes more insertion pressure than I'm used to in order to get it to work. Is trying to offer a suggestion such a bad thing?

I'm not taking things personal, I'm just pointing out that hanging a vendor for something beyond their control (how the key was cut, inability to correctly dial a phone number) is asinine. Hanging them for a valid reason (key said to have shipped and it didn't) is a totally different thing; frankly, their customer service is poor and it is a shame because the keys are quite nice.

Take off the tin-foil hat and forget your conspiracy theory.

I guess when I know how to help someone who has an issue, I'll just keep quiet.
The only affiliation I have with them was I got my key (after posting a very pointed question about why mine didn't ship until almost a week after I was billed), got it cut (nobody except the local Ace Hardware store would touch it), and got it to work after some trial and error (worked fine one way, didn't seem to work the other way until I fully inserted it). I try to offer the other side of the story (many delayed keys were due to colored front plates) and I get accused of working for them. Sorry to have paid attention to the Corvette Key posts, since I am interested in the topic.
