Sorry if the answer to this is found elsewhere on the forum here. I couldnt think of where to look.
I had my '97 C5 in the shop the last couple days (had to fix a tire leak and a check engine light that meant an Air pump and Oil pressure gage replacement---$750---yikes!).
When I picked it up this morning, it's now running great!
BUT...they somehow managed to switch the spedometer from MPH to KPH (Kilometers per hour). And although its kinda cool to look down on the freeway to see that Im doing 140, I would kinda like to switch it back.
I tried everything I could think of...could any of you old pros tell this newb how ya switch that thing over?
I don't recall which one but the button to change the display will make it go from metric to standard... What's the proper term, DIC buttons? simply page thru and you'll see it say KPH and MPH I think... pick the MPH...
This is simple if you're sitting in the car... plus I have not seen mine in three months!! I'm SURE the owners manual tells ya...
From: "This is not a psychotic episode, but a cleansing moment of clarity."
I think it's like the 3rd or 4th DIC button from the bottom. Not positive, but one press and you'll know you've got the right one.
Either that, or drive your car to Canada and as soon as you cross the border, the display will automatically switch to KPH and then back to MPH as soon as you cross back over into the U.S.
Unless its differnt from the '99's, the button near the bottom that says E/M, english and metric. Push the button. Doesnt get any easier. Where is your owners manual?

When I bought my used '97, it didnt have its owners manual. But it did have that snazzy VHS tape. I just dont have my VCR hooked up right now or else I would have watched that.
Crap. It's that E/M button? I thought that was an EMergency button! I didnt want to push that unless I was in huge trouble!
Allright, now that I KNOW Im an idiot, hope you guys dont mind if I delete this thread? Ha ha!
Thanks to you, JMC and VRROOOM2 and Behnevette for such speedy assistance.
